Rescue Mission International (ReMI) was engaged in a highly productive meeting with the Canadian High Commission on the 4th day March, 2025 to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing climate education, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
During the meeting, we presented an overview of ReMI’s mission, achievements, and ongoing initiatives, including the Climate Academy, a pioneering program designed to equip young people and professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to drive climate solutions. We shared our efforts toward securing accreditation through the National Accreditation Board and our discussions with a potential host institution.
The High Commission, through Ms. Sarah, Climate Change and Environment Lead, provided valuable insights and recommendations, including potential partnerships with some key development partners. These collaborations will be instrumental in strengthening our research capabilities, refining our curriculum, and expanding the reach of the Climate Academy.
Additionally, discussions touched on ReMI’s Master Plan for Sustainable Development, aimed at fostering climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in African communities. The High Commission highlighted their “Growth That Works for Everyone” program, focused on green emissions and circular economies, as well as their bilateral and multilateral initiatives supporting sustainability efforts across Africa.
We are grateful to Mr. Barnabe (the High Commissioner), for his encouragement and recommendations, and we look forward to building on these discussions to establish impactful collaborations that drive climate action, education, and resilience in Africa and beyond.
