Rescue Mission International (ReMI) participated in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), which took place in Seville, Spain from June 30 to July 3, 2025. ReMI, led by Abubakari Sadik Tamimu and Iddi Tabdeen, actively participated in crucial worldwide talks about sustainable funding for the 2030 Agenda.
As a youth-led environmental sustainability group, we participated actively in plenary sessions and targeted side events, emphasising the relevance of community-led and youth-driven development finance solutions. We joined global discussions about systemic financial changes, climate finance, debt justice, and grassroots accountability mechanisms.
Apart from formal sessions, our team hosted over ten bilateral meetings with leading organisations such as ORYX Impact, Match for Our Planet, Resilience40, Nepal Development Initiative (NEDI), NORRAG, Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), GFANZ, and Save the Children International. These discussions focused on prospects for project co-financing, technical partnerships, and policy collaboration in sectors such as reforestation, climate advocacy, youth entrepreneurship, inclusive education, and sustainable agriculture.
Our participation at major side events, particularly those focused on climate finance innovations and nature-based investment methods, increased our visibility and strategic posture ahead of COP30. Discussions with organisations such as GFANZ and CPI opened the way to piloting community-based finance tracking and investment-readiness models based on our grassroots knowledge.
The results of FfD4 reinforce our reputation as a research-focused, knowledge-driven, and action-oriented youth organisation. As we build on this momentum, we ask our partners and supporters to join us in transforming these worldwide collaborations into meaningful local initiatives across Africa.
