UN-Water Conference 2023

Through the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN-MGCY) and the UN Department of Social Affairs (UN DESA), our co-founder and Head of Climate and Environmental Governance Cluster, Mr. IbrahimTuzee Abdul-Raheem together with other young people across the globe gathered at the UN Headquarters in New York from 21st to 25th March, 2023 to fully represent young people and also present youth interventions at the UN Water Conference 2023.

He as usual, gave each session he participated in the best of his shots and hope to really see a significant impact in the global attainment of SDG6.

Like he mentioned during the Youth Session on 24th March, “When us the young people are encouraged and involved in the management of Water and Sanitation through governance/policies, SDG6 will work for the achievement of all other SDGs”.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber Must Not Lead CoP28

The fact that a fossil sector executive will be in charge of the 2023 climate change negotiations outrages Rescue Mission International (ReMI). On Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) named Sultan al-Jaber, the president-designate of the 2023 Climate Change Conference and the head of oil giant Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) (CoP28). The position was filled at a time when the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), of which he is CEO, was looking to expand upstream crude output by entering into concession agreements for additional exploration and production in order to develop oil resources. This is significant because Jebel Ali in 2020 had been found to contain more than 80 trillion cubic feet of gas resources. This is appalling behavior that shows a complete disdain for the CoP procedures and the ongoing climate change negotiations over the past 30 years. We demand that Dr. Sultan Al Jaber resign immediately and condemn it in the strongest terms imaginable. ~ Ibrahim Tuzee Abdul-Raheem (Co-Founder and Head of Climate and Environmental Governance Cluster)

We only can change the narrative of Environmental Conservation if we get the youngsters to ACT and that TIME to act is NOW!
